Jaya wins Joy Filmfare award for 3rd time

Jaya Ahsan, popular actress of both the Bengals, has secured the Best Actress award for the third time at the 5th Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla on Thursday for her sublime performance in Atanu Ghosh directed film ‘Binisutoy’.

The 5th Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla 2021, hosted by Abir Chatterjee, Sohini Sarkar, and Anirban Bhattacharya, held on Thursday to recognise and honour the finest Bengali film of India.

This again proved that Jaya’s unbeatable fame in Bangladesh had transcended the border and made her a trustworthy name for the Indian state of West Bengal’s film industry Tollywood.

An overjoyed Jaya wrote on Facebook, “I am overwhelmed to be awarded with the prestigious #Filmfare award for the third time. The black lady has again come to me for being the winner in the best actress popular choice category for the film #Binisutoy.”

She thanked the audience and Filmfare “for giving this kind of love and encouragement”.

She said that director Atanu Ghosh’s dreamy creation is indeed being celebrated with this achievement and congratulated the entire team of ‘Binisutoy’ for achieving the titles of ‘Best Film (critics) and ‘Best Editing’.

“May the unspoken untouched bond of Binisutoy lingers in our life forever, congratulations once again!” she said.

In the film ‘Binisutoy’, Jaya has appeared as Srabani Barua opposing Ritwick Chakraborty as Kajal Sarker.

“Kajal and Srabani, two people in their mid-thirties, meet at a reality game show audition. The common background helps them in striking up a quick bond. An accident injures Srabani and Kajal takes her to the doctor. On the way, they share two engrossing stories from their lives. The captivating human drama culminates in an ironic altercation between them,” Atanu Ghosh wrote about the storyline of ‘Binisutoy’.

Jaya was awarded the Filmfare for the first time as best actress for her acting in the film ‘Bisarjan’ in 2018. In 2019, she won the award again in the same category for ‘Bijoya’ and ‘Robibar’.
