Bangladesh’s film industry paid their last tributes to ‘Chhutir Ghanta’-famed legendary film director Azizur Rahman at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation on Sunday evening.
Azizur Rahman passed away in the Canadian city of Toronto around 11:30pm on March 14 at the age of 82.
Colleagues and admirers of Azizur Rahman paid their last respect to him by placing wreaths on his coffin at the FDC premises.
Film personalities Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Delwar Jahan Jhantu, Shafique Hasan, Matin Rahman, Reza Hashmat, Anwar Siraji, Mamtazur Rahman Akbar, Gazi Mahbub, Ujjal, Bappy, Ilias Kanchan and Bangladesh Film Exhibitors Association secretary Awlad Hossain Ujjal among others.
After holding two more funeral prayers at Baitul Aman Mosque at Dhanmondi on Sunday night and at Kalsa village of Santahar in Adamdighi of Bogura on Monday, Azizur was laid to rest in the grave of his mother Abejan Begum as per the last wish of Azizur.
In his long career in the tinsel town, Azizur directed more than 50 films. In 1980 he came up with his most remarkable work ‘Chhutir Ghanta’. ‘Ashikkhita’, ‘Matir Ghar’, ‘Janata Express’, ‘Sampanwala’, ‘Daktar Bari’, ‘Garmil’, and ‘Samadhan’ are some most popular works of the legendary director.
Born on October 10, 1939, Azizur Rahman was living in Canada for many years.
