Mugdhota Morshed Riddhi has won the best child artiste award for the film titled ‘Gondi’. She received the national award from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday.
Riddhi has garnered positive feedback in the short film ‘Nisshobdotar Shohore’ directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury. She has also acted in dozens of advertisements. She studies in class IV at Mirpur Cantonment Public School and College.
After receiving the award, Riddhi said, “I felt so happy when I received the award. I was nervous at first because I thought I’d have to deliver speech on the stage. But that didn’t happen. So, I am very happy that I didn’t need to give speech.”
The little artiste aspires to become a scientist but she said she also wants to continue acting because she loves acting the most.
Her mother Rifat Lopa said when Riddhi was a little child, she was admitted to a dance and music school. “But when I took her to a child theatre troupe called Pidim Theatre, I found her enjoying acting. Since then, I started to support her. As a mother, I can’t express how happy and proud I am feeling that my little daughter has received a national award for her acting. It is very proud moment for me. I always her to shine like this,” said Rifat Lopa.
Riddhi debuted her acting career with Duronto Tv’s serial titled ‘Odbhut’, where she played the role of super girl. Then when the director of the film ‘Gondi’, was looking for a child artiste for his film, Riddhi gave audition. That’s how she got chance in ‘Gondi’.
Riddhi has played the role of Arha in the film ‘Gondi’. She was seen as the granddaughter of Sabyasachi Chakraborty. Arha lives in London with her parents, but she shares her joys and sorrows of her life with her grandfather who lives in Bangladesh every day. Grandpa also used to tell his granddaughter about the day to day life activities through video call. This is how friendship is formed between the two.
Though ‘Gondi’ is a film about adult relationships but the life of the film was Riddhi.
