Tollywood actor Abhishek Chatterjee dies

Indian actor Abhishek Chatterjee died on Thursday in Kolkata of a suspected heart attack. He was 58.

For quite some time, the actor had been ill. According to Time of India, despite of sickness, Abhishek Chatterjee was shooting upcoming TV show ‘Ismrat Jodi’ on Wednesday (March 23) and suddenly his condition started to deteriorated.

On the set, he puked a few times, and the crew members hurried to assist him. However, the actor was not ready to go to the hospital and returned home. His family contacted a doctor, and Abhishek received medical treatment as well. But late at night, he breathed his last.

The news of his unfortunate demise came as shock to the Tollywood. His fans and many well-known figures paid tribute to the actor shortly after the news broke.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee offered condolences to his family. She wrote in a tweet, “Sad to know of the untimely demise of our young actor Abhishek Chatterjee . Abhishek was talented and versatile in his performances, and we shall miss him. It is a great loss for TV serials and our film industry. My condolences to his family and friends.”

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Abhishek Chatterjee was a significant figure in the Bengali cinema industry. Beginning his cinematic career in 1986 with Tarun Majumdar’s Path Bhola, Abhishek went on to star in other successful Bengali films.

After his dabut Abhishek Chatterjee appeared in films such as “Ora Charjon”, “Tumi Koto Sundar”, “Surer Akashe”, “Toofan”, “Maryada”, “Amar Prem”, “Papi”, “Haraner Nat Jamai”, “Jeevan Pradip”, “Puroshottam Abirvab”, “Mayer Anchal”, “Arjun Aamar Naam”, and “Sabuj Saathi”, among others.
