Coke studio Bangla brings ‘Prarthona’ for music lovers

After the success of Hajong fusion song ‘Nasek Nasek’, Coke Studio Bangla has released their second song titled ‘Prarthona’, sang by folk singer Momtaz Begum and Mizan Rahman.

The song has been produced, composed and arranged by Shayan Chowdhury Arnob.

The song is mashup of legendary folk song ‘Allah Megh De’, written and composed by Girin Chakraborty, and ‘Baba Maulana’, written and composed by Ramesh Shil.

The song has already garnered positive responses from the music enthusiasts. Since its release, the song has received 5, 76606 views and 47k likes in 17 hours.

The song ‘Prarthona’ summoning of the rainclouds can be heard in the song through the enigmatic clapping of khartal. The ancient instrument, mainly used in hymns, makes passage for Maizbhandari in the second part of the song. Originating from the Chittagong region of Bangladesh, the mystical folk genre is an expression of love for the divine and humanity.

‘Prarthona’ symbolises the eternity of virtue and how the real magic of devotion can withstand the test of time, connecting generations, old and new.

Rain-inviting rituals have been practiced for centuries all across the world. People all across the world, particularly in tropical nations, perform this rain ceremony with dances and music.

‘Allah Megh De, Pani De’ is the magical singing of the people of Bengal to invite the rain during drought.

Momtaz has put on her best show in this song while Mizan has made the song magical with his powerful voice.

The chorus of the song was sung by Md Makhon Mia, Animes Roy, Warda Ashraf, Armeen Musa, Rubayat Reham, and Jannatul Firdous Akbar which almost give the audience chills on their bones.

In the song Momtaz and Mizan was accompanied by Boga Taleb on vocals and khomok, Imran Ahmed on electric guitar, Rahin Haider on tenor saxophone, Mohammad Mokarram Hossain on drums, Sawai Khan on khartal , Shuvendu Das Shuvo on guitar, Saadul Islam on banjitar, Salahuddin Mahmud on harmonium, and Dare Khan on sarengi, Resalat Rasheed Dhrubo on bass, Sayonton Mangsang on flute, Mithun Chakraborty and Mubarak Islam on percussions, Nazrul Islam on dhol, Shayan Chowdhury Arnob on piano and Adit Rahman on keys.

MD Shajahan Ali, Shumon Das, Shamim Uddin, and Jewel De were in the Maizbhandari team.

Coke Studio Bangla began its journey with the song ‘Nasek Nasek’, a Hajong fusion song, on February 23.
