‘Payer Tolay Mati Nai’ wins Best Film at Nepal Fest

Mohammad Rabby Mridha directed Bangladeshi film ‘Payer Tolay Mati Nai’ (No Ground beneath the Feet) has won the Gautam Buddha Award as the Best Feature Film in the International Competition at Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF).

The award was given on the closing day of the festival on April 4. Competing with 14 full-length films from several countries the US, Germany, South Korea, and India in the World Panorama category, ‘Payer Tolay Mati Nai’ has won the award for the best film.

Set in the backdrop of the scathing consequences of climate change, the film is about an impoverished ambulance driver Saiful staggers between two wives while he sets out on a journey of moral decay, murder, deception, and social bashing.

The film features an ensemble cast including the National Film Award-winning actress Deepanwita Martin, Mostafa Monwar, Priyam Archie and a group of other talented artists.

“This is a very joyous moment for us. The organisers of the 5th Nepal International Film Festival have highly praised the film and awarded us the Best Film of the festival which is exciting and inspiring for young independent filmmakers of Bangladesh,” said the producer Abu Shahed Emon.

Produced by Golpo Rajjyo Films and presented by BOXOFFICE, the film has been made supported by Impress Telefilm Limited and Batayan Productions.

The 5th edition of the Nepal International Film Festival started on March 31 in Kathmandu. The festival was jointly organised by the Nepal Film and Cultural Academy and the Film Development Board of the Government of Nepal.
