Nargis to appear as Birangana in ‘Sabitri’

Nargis Akhter will be seen playing the title role of the government grant film ‘Sabitri’. Directed by Pantho Proshad, she has played the role of a Birangana named Sabitri.

The shooting of the film has been completed recently.

Regarding her character, Nargis said, “The story of this film revolves around my character. In the film I played the role of a Birangana. I have put my best efforts for this film. I really liked playing such a character. The filmmaker has made the film with utmost care. I am very optimistic about the film. Now I am just waiting for the release of the film.”

Actor Ananta Hira has played an important role in this film, while Rokeya Prachi will appear as an advocate.

In her childhood, Nargis participated in commercial stage shows. ‘Kuashar Konna’ was her debut theatrical performance. She went on to act in other theatre productions later on.

She made her acting debut with BTV series ‘Ayna’. She has also appeared in the films titled ‘Hiramon’ and ‘Bou Kotha Kou’. She made her film debut with Khan Ataur Rahman’s film ‘Jhorer Pakhi’ in 1973, after changing her name from Hosne Ara to Nargis.

She has acted in films like ‘Abodan’, ‘Gunahgar’, ‘Champa Chameli’, ‘Bhai Aamar Bhai’, ‘Adalot, Nolok’, ‘Fakir Majnu Shah’, ‘Rong Berong’, ‘Sareng Bou’, ‘Mayar Badhon’, ‘Ramer Sumoti’.

Nargis has won the National Film Award for the first time for the film ‘Maya- The Lost Mother’, directed by Masud Pothik in 2019.
