Jhontu faces trouble to pick new faces thru online

Successful Dhallywood filmmaker Delwar Jahan Jhontu is now in trouble as he chose online plat-forms to find new faces for his new movie.

More than 50 thousand aspirants responded to his Facebook post seeking fresher actors and ac-tresses.

Jhontu posted on Facebook on April 3 and till Tuesday there were 52,000 comments on the post and most of the commenters replied with a photograph. Though Jhontu is very happy seeing so many youngsters interested to work in film and he lamented that most of the aspirants were not correctly sending their photographs or CVs. Some sent pictures wearing sunglass some sent him their selfies.

Now Jhontu passes a challenging time to find the right candidates for this film.

“People are not sending their pictures the way I asked them to. I don’t think I can select the hero or the heroin from what people have sent,” said Delwar Jahan Jhontu.

“I asked for a portrait and a full profile photograph without wearing sunglass. Eye expression has its own demand in acting. Eyes have a different gestures. How can I select artistes without even look-ing at their eyes as they send me pictures wearing sunglasses?” said an annoyed Jhontu.

“I also need to see how an actor looks like, their height and weight. It’s the same for the actresses too. The face is important but in film, one can’t be selected just because of having a pretty face only. That’s why we ask for a full profile picture,” he added.

On April 7, Jhontu took to Facebook Live and said he has selected his hero, heroine. But he kept their names secret. Rumours have it that Jhontu pulled the Facebook Live just to get rid of the unwanted trouble. Jhontu on Facebook Live said that he will soon start the shooting and he will reveal the names of the hero and heroine in time.

Jhontu made his directorial debut with the film Leader, he also produced it. His first directorial release was Bonduk, and it was released in 1978. As of August 2019, he has directed 75 films in more than four decades of his career, which is the highest directorial venture of any single director in Bangladeshi film. He has also written screenplays for more than 350 films.
