‘Every day I feel a new version of myself’

Sometimes she is the girl next door like her character in ‘Boro Chele’, sometimes she is resilient like her character in ‘Sabrina’, and sometimes she is mysterious and complex like her character in ‘Punorjonmo’ or ‘Redrum’. She is Mehazabien Chowdhury, the present queen of the small screen.

Today is her birthday.

Birthdays are a rare getaway for popular actor Mehazabien, who keeps her day free from any shooting. She is planning to spend her day in her home with her family and loved ones.

“Usually, I don’t do any shooting on my birthday because I like to enjoy the day with my family and friends. Though I have not planned anything big today, I think I am going to spend the day indoors and enjoy myself,” she said.

Mehazabien recently garnered appreciation for her role Sabrina in the web series ‘Sabrina’, directed by Ashfaque Nipun which was released on Hoichoi. This was her first work for Hoichoi.

She has made her first OTT debut with the series ‘Redrum’, directed by Vicky Zahed. She caught the attention of the audience by donning the character Neela in that web series.

Mehazabien Chowdhury first came to the limelight when she won the Lux-Channel i Superstar title.

Initially, everyone pointed the finger at her accent, she was steadfast in her goal. By dint of her perseverance and unaltered dedication to acting, she brushed up both her acting and language skills. And now here she is today - she has been mesmerising the audience with her acting prowess and remarkable performances on the small screen for the last twelve years.

Regarding her journey in the entertainment industry, she said, “I never think that I’m a top actress because I know as soon as I think about it, my work will start to get worse. Every day I try to learn something new from the director and co-actors. Every day, I feel a new version of myself.”

“I always look for stories where I can do something new and challenging. Frankly, many stories in the world have been told already. The story we are currently working on or will work on, we have to present the old stories in a new way. Due to budget deficiency and other internal factors, we often do not get a challenging storyline to work on. Still, I am optimistic. Although slowly recovering, our industry is moving forward,” she added.

Mehzabin Chowdhury said that she has already completed the work of drama directed by Shihab Shaheen, Vicky Zayed, Rafat Majumder Rinku and Mohidul Mahim for the upcoming Eid. She will be starring alongside Shahed Sharif Khan, Jovan, Tousif, Yash Rohan, Khairul Basar and Sudip in those dramas.

In the twelve years of her journey, Mehazabien has proved, against all speculations that she is not in the industry to sail into oblivion just like a drifting piece of logwood.
