Acting is full of challenges: Porshi

Singer-turned-actor Sabrina Porshi will be making her appearance in ‘Maria One Piece’ opposite Tollywood actor Rishi Kaushik in a lead role. The teledrama, directed by Sajin Ahmed Babu, will be released on this Eid.

Porshi will be seen as a girl who roams around in the neighbourhoods and returns home at late night. Her character can be claimed as more of a tomboy.

The shooting has been done in two days around some areas of Dhaka.

“I’m still a bit nervous about ‘Maria One Piece’ as this is my first time in a lead role. My character here is kind of a tomboy and I am still kind of nervous about how I pulled off the character,” said Porshi.

Talking about her experience of acting, she said, “My experience of acting was sort of different. On top of that acting opposite Rishi Koushik made it more exciting as we all know Rishi Koushik and all love his acting. It’s my first time acting and I’m acting opposite a Tollywood actor made me really nervous. I was so nervous all the time but he was really supportive.”

For Porshi, it was challenging as she is mainly a singer, not an actor. “Acting is full of challenges. Every step is challenging,” said Porshi.

For her, acting and singing are totally a polar opposite things. The only thing that is common in singing and acting is expression. “In singing, the singer has to express only through voice but while in acting the actor needs to express though everything. So being a singer, acting was full of challenges.”

Porshi did not want to act in the first place. She refused as she thought she could not be able to act but her mentor Ashik encouraged her and thus she could not refuse to do the teledrama.

Even the director Sajin Ahmed Babu is happy with her acting.

Rishi Kaushik is known for serials like ‘Ekhane Akash Neel’, ‘Isti Kutum’, Kora Pakhi and ‘Mukhosh Manush’. He even acted in Feluda Pherot (2020) Season 1 - Chhinnamastar Abhishap As Biren Choudhury, the Ringmaster Karandikar. Rishi has also acted opposite Safa Kabir in Chilekothar Bhalobasa. Apart from that, he also acted in some Bangladeshi dramas.
