Bangladesh Chalachchitra Sangbadik Samity (Bachsas) will be honouring twelve eminent personalities in recognition of their contribution to art, culture and journalism in Bangladesh on April 25.
They are – noted actor Alamgir, producer Chhatku Ahmed, cinematographer Abdul Latif Bachchu, drama personalities Ramendu Majumdar, Ataur Rahman and Asaduzzaman Noor, singers Syed Abdul Hadi and Runa Laila, lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar, journalist-researcher Rafiquzzaman, filmmaker and journalists Shahidul Haque Khan and Anupam Hayat.
The award ceremony has been organized at the auditorium of Diploma Engineers Institute in the capital marking their 54th founding anniversary.
Kamruzzaman Babu, general secretary of Bachsas, said , “It’s a matter of joy and pride for all of us to be able to honor these people who have made such contributions to our Bengali film industry.”
The chief guest of this special award ceremony will be the Minister of Liberation War Affairs A.K.M. Mozammel Haque. The special guest will be State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and will be presided over by Bachsas President Falguni Hamid.
In addition to the award ceremony, there will be an annual iftar mahfil of Bachsas.
The current committee of Bachsas consists of President Falguni Hamid, Senior Vice President Abida Nasrin Kali, Vice President Saikat Salah Uddin, General Secretary Kamruzzaman Babu, Vice General Secretary Tushar Aditya, Organizing Secretary Rezaul Karim Reza, Finance Secretary Moin Abdullah, International And Research Secretary Mahmud Manzoor, Social Welfare and Women’s Affairs Secretary Sraboni Rakhi, Publicity and Publication Secretary Limon Ahmed, Sports and Cultural Secretary Mir Sami and Office Secretary Nipu Barua.
The other executive members are Ibrahim Khalil Khokon, Anjan Das, Alauddin Majid, Abdullah Zeyad, Shafiq Al Mamun, MS Rana, Dawood Hossain Rony, Johnny Haque and Israfil Shahin.
Bachsas Awards was introduced in 1972 to encourage the fledgling film industry of the country. Bangladesh Cine-Journalists’ Association give out their most prestigious awards to outstanding performers in film, television, music, dance and theatre.
