The 36th show of country’s popular theatre troupe Swapnadal’s much-acclaimed mono drama ‘Helen Keller’ will be staged at the Studio Theater of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy today at 7:15pm.
The play is written by Apurba Kumar and directed by Zahid Ripon. Juana Shabnom will be playing the lead role in the play.
Helen Keller, a pioneer of education for the deaf and blind of all ages, is the center of the drama ‘Helen Keller.’ Helen Adams Keller was an American author, political activist, and lecturer . She was the first deaf-blind person to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.
‘Helen Keller’ also discusses her hopes for women’s liberation and humanism, as well as her strong opposition to racism, violence, destruction, and the usage of nuclear weapons. Aside from that, the ‘Helen Keller’ depicts her personal life’s experiences of satisfaction and dissatisfaction.
She also conveys her own philosophy, which is that true humanity is the ability to dedicate oneself to the wellbeing of others despite all difficulties or struggles. Finally, this philosophy takes precedence.
The production of ‘Helen Keller’ has been widely acclaimed outside the country in 2016 in Tokyo, Japan, with regular performances at the East Natyagatha International Drama Festival 2018, organized by East New Alipur in Kolkata, India.
In addition, it has already received international acclaimation for its spectacular broadcasts at six International Virtual Theater Festivals across the country. Helen Keller has also been invited to perform at a world-famous drama festival in Kuwait.
