Shabnam desires to act again

Veteran actress Shabnam desires to work again in films if she gets a good script. She made the comment at an Iftar mahfil arranged by the Bangladesh Chalachchitra Shilpi Samity on Friday at a convention hall in Dhaka.

“There is no break from being an artiste. So, I am still hopeful that I can work on good films again someday. I hope to play a good character in a film with an original storyline, ” she said.

At the iftar mahfil, all the renowned Dhallywood artistes were present. But Shabnam was the heart of the mahfil. Everybody surrounded her and talked with her.

Ilyas Kanchan and Nipun were in charge of organising this year’s Iftar mahfil. Noted actor Alamgir was the chief guest on the occasion Shabnam was the special guest.

Shabnam said, “I’m forever indebted to the film industry for the love they have given me after a long time. My biggest achievement is even after being away from the film industry for two decades, they still love me from the core of their hearts.”

Apart from Shabnam, Mahmuda Koli, Alamgir, Riaz, Ferdous, Ananta Jalil, Borsha, Nipun, Keya, Simon, Emon were also present on the event.

Shabnam, legendary actress of Pakistan and Bangladeshi cinema, was shot to fame after appearing in the Urdu film ‘Chanda,’ and she had not looked back since then.

In the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, Shabnam was active in Lollywood. She has been nominated for the Nigar Awards numerous times and has won 13 of them (the most for an actress). She has won three national awards in Pakistan.

Shabnam debuted in the Bangladeshi film industry with the film ‘Harano Din’ in 1958. ‘Ammajan,’ was her most recent Bangladeshi film in 1999, which garnered a lot of appreciation from the audience.
