The family of legendary film director and producer Azizur Rahman has donated some of his memorabilia to the Film Museum of the Bangladesh Film Archive to preserve those.
Multiple awards and crests, including the National Awards, three books – one on him and the other two authored by him, his spectacles, watch and original copies of movie scripts were among the memorabilia.
Azizur’s daughter Alia Rahman Bindi handed over these artifacts to Bangladesh Film Archive Director General Nizamul Kabir on Sunday. Film Officer Md Fakhrul Alam was also present at the event.
Azizur Rahman passed away at a hospital in Canada on March 14 at the age of 82. Azizur started working in the film arena as an assistant to director Ehtesham in 1958 for the film ‘Ei Desh Tomar Amar’.
In his long career in the tinsel town, Azizur directed over 54 films. In 1980 he came up with his most remarkable work ‘Chhutir Ghanta’. ‘Ashikkhita’, ‘Matir Ghar’, ‘Janata Express’, ‘Sampanwala’, ‘Daktar Bari’, ‘Garmil’, and ‘Samadhan’ are some most popular works of the legendary director.
Born on October 10, 1939, Azizur was living in Canada for many years.
Apart from films, Bangladesh Film Archive also preserves various materials related to films and studios which are used by people related to films. Film Museum of the Bangladesh Film Archive has archived various things from Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), Bangladesh Short Film Forum, Shruti Recording Studio, apart from them there are belongings of photographers, film directors, producers and artistes.
