Bangladesh Chalachchitra Sangbadik Samity (Bachsas) honored twelve eminent personalities in recognition of their contribution to art, culture and journalism in Bangladesh on Tuesday.
The award ceremony was organised at the auditorium of Diploma Engineers Institute in the capital marking their 54th founding anniversary followed by an Iftar Mahfil. Minister of Liberation War Affairs A.K.M. Mozammel Haque was present as chief guest, while State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury was present as special guest.
Bachsas handed over the award in film, television, theater, music, and journalism categories.
Veteran actor Alamgir, director Chatku Ahmed, and cinematographer Abdul Latif Bacchu were honored in the film category, while Ramendu Majumder, Ataur Rahman, and Asaduzzaman Noor were honored in the theatre category.
Syed Abdul Hadi, Runa Laila, and Gazi Mazharul Anwar were awarded in the music category.
The current committee of Bachsas consists of President Falguni Hamid, Senior Vice President Abida Nasrin Kali, Vice President Saikat Salah Uddin, General Secretary Kamruzzaman Babu, Vice General Secretary Tushar Aditya, Organizing Secretary Rezaul Karim Reza, Finance Secretary Moin Abdullah, International And Research Secretary Mahmud Manzoor, Social Welfare and Women’s Affairs Secretary Sraboni Rakhi, Publicity and Publication Secretary Limon Ahmed, Sports and Cultural Secretary Mir Sami and Office Secretary Nipu Barua.
