Mothers of seventeen celebrities and journalists have been honoured with ‘Ma Padoa 2022’. The award ceremony was held on Mother’s Day at Dhaka Regency hotel.

Journalist Ovi Moinuddin for the time has introduced the award (Ma Padak), with the support of Ali-Rupa Foundation.

Ali-Rupa Foundation and Goal Organisation has organised the event supported by Abul Bashar Foundation and Z&Z Associates, and presented by Swapnadhara. Legendary singer Runa Laila was present as the chief guest at the award ceremony.

The awardees are: noted actress Shabnam, Anjuman Nahar – mother of actress Shabnaz and Mou, mother of actress Tarin – Sufia Begum, mother of actress Purnima – Rahima Begum, mother of programme producer Ananya Ruma – Kaniz Fatema, mother of actor Sajal – Lutfun Nahar, mother of singer Kona – Anwara Khan, - other of actress Runa Khan –Jahanara Begum, presenter Shanta Jahan’s mother Fatema Hasan Palash, mother of singer Pratik Hasan and Pritam Hasan – Salma Begum, actress Tanjin Tisha’s mother. The mothers of four entertainment journalists were also honoured at the event. They are – FI Dipu’s mother Ayesha Akhter, Nipu Barua’s mother Ranu Barua, Mir Samir’s mother Gulshan Ara Shovon and Limon Ahmed’s mother Fatema Akhter.

At the ceremony, singer Runa Laila said, “I’m paying my respect and love to all mothers. I have never faced such an emotional environment. The role of my mother is the biggest behind my present position. Undoubtedly, Ovi’s initiative is highly commendable. Shabnam Apa usually does not go to any event. She has also been honoured here. I wish more success to this initiative.” Ovi

Moinuddin said, “To fulfil my dream, our honourable Runa Laila Apa, Masud Bhai, founder of Swapnadhara, all the artists, journalists, Abul Bashar Foundation, Z&Z Associates have come forward. I am grateful to everyone. This ‘Ma Padak’ will continue to be awarded every year on Mother’s Day.”
