‘Paap Punno’ to hit 112 North American theatres May 20

Monpura famed Giasuddin Selim’s latest directorial ‘Paap Punno’ is set to release simultaneously in 112 theatres in North America on May 20.

With the release in 112 theatres,  ‘Paap Punno’ is all set to become the first Bangladeshi movie to be released in more than a hundred at the same time outside the country.

The film will also be released in Bangladeshi cinemas on the same day.

Mohammad Oliullah Sajib, president of the film’s distributor ‘Swapno Scarecrow’,  confirmed that Chanchal Chowdhury starrer ‘Paap Punno’ is going to be released at home and abroad on May 20.

“The film is set to release simultaneously in eight cities in five Canadian provinces and more than 100 cities in 25 US states,” said Sajib.

“With this, 1 million audiences will be able to enjoy the film in that area. Technically, that’s the total market size of the audience of Bangladeshi movies in North America,” he said.

“If 10 per cent of 1 million – 1 lakh – people watch the film in theatres, then the gross box office collection will cross $1 million from the international market. And if the film becomes a blockbuster hit, the number could go up to $2 million,” said Oliullah Sajib.

Abu Shahed Emon, creative producer of the film and film consultant of Impress Telefilm, said the names of the cinema halls to screen the film in Bangladesh and elsewhere will be published by next week

Show-time and advance tickets will be available online from May 18.

North Americans will be able to enjoy ‘Paap Punno’ in their nearest theatres like AMC, Regal, Cinemark or Cineplex in 25 US states. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Texas, California, Florida, Georgia, Arizona, and Washington are among the states that will be releasing the film.

In the chain of Cineplex Entertainment in Canada, ‘Paap-Punno’ is being released in eight theatres in eight cities of Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia and Nova Scotia.

The film stars Siam Ahmed and Shahnaz Sumi has been cast opposite Siam. The film stars Chanchal Chowdhury, Afsana Mimi, Siam Ahmed, Farzana Chumki, Mamunur Rashid, Gausul Alam Shaon, and Fazlur Rahman Babu in vital roles. The film is produced by Impress Telefilm. The film will be released in theatres at home and abroad on the same day.
