‘No Land’s Man’, ‘Anyadin’ selected for Sydney Film Festival

Two acclaimed films of Bangladesh titled ‘No Land’s Man’ directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and ‘Anyadin’ (Day After..) directed by Kamar Ahmed Simon have been selected for screening at the Sydney Film Festival.

‘No Land’s Man’ will be screened on June 16 and 19 while ‘Anyadin’ will be screened on June 14 and 18.

Both the directors have confirmed the news through a post on their verified Facebook accounts.

The eighth feature film of Mostafa Sarwar Farooki and the second of his ‘identity series’ (the first one is being ‘Saturday Afternoon’), the much anticipated ‘No Land’s Man’ has created buzz for casting the star of critically commercially successful movie ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and Netflix series ‘Sacred Games’, Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The film revolves around a Bangladeshi man named Naveen whose life gets tragic and strangely funny when he meets an Australian girl in the US.

‘No Land’s Man’ also stars Australian actor Megan Mitchell and celebrated Bangladeshi singer-actor Tahsan Khan in the leading roles.

Farooki will join the screening with Megan Mitchell in Sydney.

On the other hand, ‘Anyadin’ is the second film in Simon’s water trilogy. The maiden film of this exclusive trilogy was ‘Shunte Ki Pao!’ (‘Are You Listening!’), released in 2012.

In addition to directing, Simon wrote the screenplay for this 121-minute documentary. The cinematography is also done by him.

Sydney film festival will screen 200 films from 64 countries. 26 movies will have world premieres among these. The festival will start on June 6 and will continue till June 19.
