Anonymous Content, CAA sign Nuhash Humayun

Production and management company Anonymous Content and leading agency CAA have signed Bangladeshi director Nuhash Humayun, whose recent horror short film, ‘Moshari’ won the Atlanta Film Festival Jury Prize for Best Narrative Short.

This award is considered as also an Oscar qualifying prize.

Nuhash has announced the news on his verified Facebook account on Tuesday and wrote, “I signed with Anonymous Content (True Detective, Mr Robot, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and Creative Artists Agency (reps Matt Reeves, Sam Raimi, Zendaya, Spielberg, Taika Waititi).”

“As Bangladeshis, we have powerful, thrilling, visceral stories to tell. With my incredible new team, I can’t wait to tell these stories on a global canvas. Have a lot of emotional stuff to say. But I’ll just say this: What’s up, Hollywood?” wrote Nuhash.

The story of the short film revolves when the world is overrun with bloodthirsty creatures, the last of mankind perseveres in Dhaka, Bangladesh by spending their nights inside the moshari - the only known shelter from the unknown threat.

Two sisters, Apu and Ayra, must navigate this strange new world to survive. However, their strained relationship is becoming as much of a threat as the dangers outside. The film has also been selected for Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes and SITGES Festival.

“The first time, I heard my home mentioned in a film was a throwaway line about there being enough food on this table to feed Bangladesh,” Nuhash Humayun told Deadline, a leading Hollywood Magazine.

“I love infusing genre stories with deeply personal and cultural identity politics. My goal is to portray a Bangladesh/South Asia free from stereotypes and assumptions. We have powerful, thrilling, visceral stories to tell. With my incredible team at AC and CAA, I hope to tell intimate personal stories that are also universal,” added the filmmaker.
