The 123rd birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam will be celebrated today in a befitting manner across the country. The government has taken a massive programme to mark the birth anniversary of Nazrul at the national level.
This year, the main programme of Nazrul’s birth anniversary celebration will be held at Birchandra Public Library and Town Auditorium, Cumilla. The main theme of this year’s celebration is ‘Bidrahi’r Shataborsha’. Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud will be present as the chief guest today at 11:00 am. Presided over by State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, the programme will be attended by Chairman of the Standing Committee on Cultural Affairs Ministry Simin Hossain Rimi, Cumilla-6 MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar, and Khilkhil Kazi granddaughter of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam as special guests.
The inaugural event will have a 30-minute cultural programme including a presentation of dance drama by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The celebration programme will also be held in Dhaka, Trishal of Mymensingh, Daulatpur of Cumilla, Teota of Manikganj, Karpashdanga of Chuadanga, and Chattogram. On this occasion, the local administration will organise various programmes including Nazrul Mela, discussion on Nazrul, and cultural programmes.
Kabi Nazrul Institute in collaboration with Bangla Academy will print memorabilia and posters on the occasion of the National Poet’s birth anniversary.
On the other hand, Kabi Nazrul Institute with the support of the Cultural Affairs Ministry has organised an elaborated programme at Rabindra Sarabor of Dhanmondi in the capital. The programme will begin at 6:00pm, where poet Kamal Chowdhury will be present as the chief guest, while the additional secretary (administration) of the cultural affairs ministry Monirul Alam will attend the programme as special guest. At the event, Yakub Ali Khan, Leena Taposhi Khan, Moidul Islam, Rawshan Ara, and Sumon Das will render songs, while artistes of Nazrul Institute will perform group dances. Dance artistes Mondira Chowdhury and Monirul Islam along with their troupe will perform dance while Shimul Mustafa and Sabina Yasmin Sima will recite poems.
To mark the occasion, Chhayanaut will hold a two-day cultural programme at its premises on May 25 and 26 featuring solo rendition, chorus, solo and group dance performance, and recitation. The programme will begin every day at 7:00pm.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised a cultural programme today at 7:00 pm at its National Theatre Hall, Segun Bagicha in the capital.
Besides, Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and all other mass media will broadcast the national level programs and other programmes.
