Chhayanaut, one of the most prominent cultural organisations in the country, organised a two-day festival titled ‘Nazrul Utsab’ on its premises in Dhanmondi of the capital on Wednesday and Thursday.
On the occasion of the 123rd birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam, which fell on May 25, Chhayanaut organised the two-day festival featuring solo rendition, chorus, solo and group dance performance, and recitation.
The event began with a chorus rendition of ‘Esechhi Tobo Dare, Bhokti Shunyo Prane’ on Wednesday evening by the artistes of Chhayanaut.
In the cultural part on the first day, Priya Gope rendered ‘Antore Tumi Accho Chirodin’, while Yakub Ali rendered ‘Bohu Pothe Britha Firiyachhi Provu’, Anamika Sarkar rendered ‘Shyama Namer Laglo Agun’, Sulka Sarkar rendered ‘Nobo-Kisholoy Ranga Sojya Patiya’, Syeda Sanjida Johora rendered ‘Khodar Preme Sorab Piya’ and Farhana Akter rendered ‘Kon Susume Tomay Ami’.
Later artistes of Sur Saptak, Chhayanaut and singer Sadya Afreen Mallick, Dalia Nausheen, and Nahian Durdana Suchi rendered chorus, while Sharmila Bandyopadhyay, Ira Bala, Sudeshna Swayamprabha and artistes of Chhayanaut performed dance at the event.
In the second part, child artistes of Chhayanaut rendered the
chorus ‘Jhor Esechhe, Jhor Eseche Kahara Jeno Dake’.
Later Aishwarya Samaddar rendered ‘Shyama Tonni Ami Megh-Borona’, Nusrat Jahan Runa rendered ‘Tor Rupe Gahon Kore’, among others. Recitation artist Rafiqul Islam recited a poem on the first day of the two-day event.
At the beginning of the closing day programme on Thursday, artistes of Chhayanaut presented a chorus rendition.
On the closing day, singer Fatema Tuz-Zohra, Khairul Anam Shakil, Abhijit Kundu, Arup Biswas, Rezaul Karim, Sumon Majumdar, and Bijon Chandra Mistry, among others presented solo renditions, while Dahlia Ahmed and Zahirul Haque Khan recited poems, and Warda Rihab performed dance.
