‘Rickshaw Girl’ continues screening in US

After premiere in New York on May 5, Amitabh Reza Chowdhury’s film ‘Rickshaw Girl’ is being screened across the United States for four weeks. The film is now scheduled to have a couple of screenings in June.

The screenings will be held on June 4 and 5 at 5pm in Arizona, California and Denver. The first screening of the film was in the city’s famous movie theatre Village East by Angelica.

Hosted in the US by Bioscope Films, ‘Rickshaw Girl’ is now being screened in 52 cities in 18 states of the US.

The film is based on the Indian-American author Mitali Perkins’ book of the same title. The screenplay is jointly written by Naseef Faruque Amin and Sharbari Z Ahmed.

This inspiring film tackles issues surrounding women empowerment and gender equality. The film revolves around a teenager, Naima, who eventually takes rickshaw pulling as a profession. Novera Rahman has played the character.

‘Rickshaw girl’ features Novera Ahmed in the lead role. Apart from Novera the film also stars Champa, Momena Chowdhury, Naresh Bhuiyan, Ellen Shuvro and others.

Till now ‘Rickshaw Girl’ has won accolades at film festivals throughout the world, including the Prescott Film Festival in US and the SCHLiNGEL International Film Festival in Germany.
