Farooki joins 69th Sydney Film Fest jury

Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has joined the jury of the 69th Sydney Film Festival (SFF).

The management of the festival, which will award the Sydney Film Prize in the Official Competition, announced the names of the jury on Tuesday.

The festival will begin on June 8 and will end on June 19.

The jury members of this year’s SFF are actor/director David Wenham (Australia), who will also be Jury President, BAFTA-nominated writer and director Jennifer Peedom (Australia), writer-director-producer Mostofa Sarwar Farooki (Bangladesh), Berlin Golden Bear-winning writer-director-producer Semih Kaplanoğlu (Turkey), and the Executive Director of the Kawakita Memorial Film Institute, Tokyo, Yuka Sakano (Japan).

Farooki shared the news on his verified Facebook account and wrote, “Looking forward!”

Besides, Farooki’s film ‘No Land’s Man’ has also been selected for this year’s festival among 200+ films that are taking part in this festival.

‘No Land’s Man’ is a story of A South Asian man fleeing persecution creates a new identity. His life changes after meeting an Australian woman in New York. The film ‘No Land’s Man’ casts Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role.

The Sydney Film Prize winner will be announced on June 19 at the State Theatre at the Festival’s Closing Night ceremony.
