Udichi forms new committee

Professor Badiur Rahman and Amit Ranjan Dey have been elected as the new president and general secretary respectively of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi. The announcement was made on the last day of the three-day 22nd National Conference of Udichi held on Saturday at the Mahanagar Natya Mancha in the capital.

The three-day conference started on June 2 at the Mahanagar Natya Mancha in Gulistan. At the end of the three day-long cultural session on Saturday, about 800 delegates from across the country elected the 91-member central council.

Hridoy Chandra Mandal inaugurated the 22nd National Conference of Udichi on June 2, where playwright Mamunur Rashid, Professor Syed Manjurul Islam, author Dr. Zafar Iqbal, president of Shammilita Sangskritik Jote Golam Kuddus, poet Golam Kibria Pinu and coordinator of Charan Cultural Center Nikhil Das were present at the event.

The invited guests said that Udichi is a trustworthy name of in any mass movement of this country. Our liberation is impossible without a fight against total injustice and cultural endangerment, capitalism, patriarchy, consumerism and communal cultural domination.

Udichi honoured Golam Mohammad Idu, one of the founding members and former president of Udichi with a special honour.
