Folk queen Momtaz Begum will perform at ‘Joy Bangla Utsab’ for the third time. She will be performing at the festival which is taking place at Barishal on June 16.
Confirming the news Momtaz said, “Earlier, I’ve performed in Joy Bangla Utsab for two consecutive times. This is the third time I’m performing at the festival. As the name of the festival is ‘Joy Bangla’ so I usually start my performance with a patriotic song. After that I try to sing from the audience’s choice or else I sing songs which I like. Overall I try to make the concert lively as much as I can.”
“To be honest performing on stage is something an artist loves the most. An artist repeatedly finds himself back on stage and with the support of the audience, the show becomes much more unique and extraordinary. I believe, this time ‘Joy Bangla Utsab’ will become lively”, she added.
This year’s ‘Joy Bangla Utshab’ will be emceed by Shanta Jahan.
Apart from that, Momtaz will be present at the inaugural programme of Padma Multipurpose Bridge. She recently sang a song on ‘Padma Bridge’ which is written by Kabir Bakul and composed by Kishore. She will be also singing on a programme at Mymensing organised under the monetization of State Minister of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh, K M Khalid on June 25.
Momtaz Begum is the three times National Film Award winner. Recently, she sang for the film ‘Dampara’ and ‘1971 Shei Shob Din’. Apart from that, her last song ‘Prarthona’ for coke studio got a huge appreciation from the audience. Her song ‘Raat Jaga Phool’ from the film ‘Raat Jaga Phool’ has also created a buzz among the audience. Recently, she performed in two shows in Australia.
