Scenic reading of German plays at Mahila Samity

A scenic reading of the plays ‘DER ZINNSOLDAT UND DIE PAPIERTÄNZERIN’(Tiner Sepai O Kagojer Nortoki) and ‘ICH LIEBE DICH’ (Bhalobashi) will be held today ( June 12) and tomorrow (June 13) respectively at Dr Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Shamity at 6.30pm.

‘DER ZINNSOLDAT UND DIE PAPIERTÄNZERIN’ is written by Roland Schimmelpfennig. This play is translated into Bengali by Romit Roy and scenic reading will be done by Prachyanat.

‘ICH LIEBE DICH’ is written by Kristo Sagor. This play is translated into Bangla by Parthapratim Chattopadhyay and scenic reading will be done by theatre troupe Bonhishikha.

The play ‘DER ZINNSOLDAT UND DIE PAPIERTÄNZERIN’ revolves around a paper ballerina and a tin soldier with only one leg. They were not part of the collection of toys, they were just placed on the window ledge. No sooner than they discover the lovely feeling, the window opens and they are forced to embark upon an adventure. The play narrates two stories paralally.

The play ‘ICH LIEBE DICH’ revolves around twelve-year-old Julian and eleven-year-old Lia who face the small but important differences and also the big questions about love and its impermanence. They let all the loved ones, even those almost forgotten, have their say, they put themselves in the shoes of the living and the dead, of the dancing grandparents and the arguing parents, and even in the shoes of loved ones in the future.

In this way, the children condense their love into an eventful story and simultaneously win for themselves important moments in their own lives.
