Frank Grillo joins Masud Rana cast

Captain America, The Purge and Copshop star Frank Grillo is set to star in action movie ‘MR-9’, which is shooting imminently in the U.S. and Bangladesh, reports Deadline.

Writer-director Asif Akbar’s spy action-thriller film ‘MR-9’ is based on the original first novel Masud Rana: Dhonghsho Pahar (Demolition Hill), written by late Qazi Anwar Hussain. Though the plot details are being kept under wraps it seems, Grillo will play the nemesis of secret agent Rana — code name MR-9 who works for Bangladesh Counter Intelligence Agency.

Production house, Jaaz Multimedia, LA-based Al Bravo Films and MR-9 Films have collaborated to get the film into production. Producers for the film are Al Bravo, Hemdee Kiwanuka, Colin Bates, Akbar, Philip Tan and Abdul Aziz with executive producers Niko Foster, Peter Nguyen and Phillip B. Goldfine. The expected budget of the film is Tk. 83 crore.

The screenplay for the film has been adapted by Akbar, Aziz and Nazim Ud Daula from the first novel Masud Rana: Dhonghsho Pahar, originally published in 1966.

The shooting of the film started in Las Vegas on May 14. The shooting will later take place in Bangladesh. The film will be featuring ABM Sumon and Anisur Rahman Milon. Apart from Grillo the film also casts some more foreign actors. Initially the film will be using English as a language later it will be dubbed in Bangla.
