Four shows of ‘Two Strangers vs Oleander Flower’ at Shilpakala

Space and Acting Research Center is going to stage four consecutive show of its acclaimed theatrical production ‘Two Strangers vs Oleander Flower’ at the Studio Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

The 49th and 50th show will be staged today at 07:00pm and 8:00pm respectively, while 51st and 52nd show will be held tomorrow at the same time.

Written and directed by Ashish Khondker, the story of the play begins with a timeless surface. The two strangers have been travelling and crossing this surface, living a life on the road.

In the fairy tale play, the story proceeds with two strangers exploring the world as well as the mysteries of nature in their own intriguing ways.

As they enter into a magic realm, they were informed that their father went missing. The guard of an abandoned vessel there told them of the Oleander flower which ensures rebirth of the dead entity. Out to get back their father, the duo killed the guard and took the key to place where the flower grows. And the drama ends with the information that they took the wrong key.

Regarding the play, Ashish Khandokar said, “This play has two versions. One is environmental and another is studio. In the studio version, pandemic related texts are added to remind the people that human civilazation has been defeated by the nature every time. Only the nature can heal the world again.”

The cast of the play includes Farhad Hossain Shaon, Toto Timothy and Manisha Orchy, among others.
