Jaya-starrer ‘Jhora Palok’ to be released on June 24

Glamourous actress Jaya Ahsan-acted film ‘Jhora Palok,’ based on the life of eminent poet Jibananda Das will be released on June 24. Directed by Sayantan Mukherjee, Jaya Ahsan will be seen playing the role of Labanya Das – the wife of Jibananda Das.

The trailer of the film has released in December last year and received a good response from the audience.

The film ‘Jhora Palok’ was inspired by Jibanananda’s autobiographical novel ‘Malyaban’. The ups and downs of his relationship with his wife Labanya Das was highlighted in that book.

Regarding her character, Jaya Ahsan said, “My character has the shadows of other characters, which was in Jibanananda Das. I think it is not easy to keep pace with a character like Jibanananda Das, who is immersed in poetry from head to toe. He was not comfortable in his life. So, playing this character was challenging for me.”

‘Jhora Palok’ follows the voice of poet Jibananda Das and attempts to depict his life through an imaginative visual representation of how he was attracted by poetry and explored his life on his terms.

The film attempts to show how he achieves his position as a poet in the Bengali literary scene of the future, by interpreting his repertoire of works and his interactions with the so-called society of intellectuals.

Director Sayantan Mukherjee has used the movie ‘Jhorapalak’ as a canvas to capture the life of Jibanananda, his thoughts, grief, and the people around him. The film centres on the conjugal life of the poet Jibanananda Das.

The shooting of the film started in 2017. Then for various reasons, the release of the film has been delayed.

Bratya Basu and Rahul Arunodaya Bandyopadhyay will be seen playing the different stages of Jibanananda Das in this film. Besides, Devashankar Haldar will be portraying the role of poet Sajanikanta Das, Kaushik Sen will be seen as poet Buddhadev Basu and Supriya Dutt will be playing the role of Kazi Nazrul Islam.
