Popular Bangla band Chirkutt will be performing today at 7:30pm at Alliance Française de Dhaka in Dhanmondi. Alliance Française de Dhaka is organising a special musical programme to raise funds for the flood victims and to celebrate World Music Day.
The concert will be open to all and entry is free. Due to the limited sitting capacity, the management decided to go with a first come first served basis system.
Though the entry will be free along with enjoying the concert, the management also requested donations.
Chirkutt confirmed the concert from their verified Facebook page and wrote, “We will be performing on the occasion of World Music Day on 21st June at Alliance Française in Dhanmondi. We spoke to the organisers about whether this concert could raise as many funds as possible to help flood victims across the country, including Sylhet and they agreed with us. The space is quite small. So, first come first served will be the policy. Let’s deal with this difficult time according to our ability. May, the almighty help us. The concert is open for all.”
The band recently performed at the Golden Jubilee Bangladesh Concert held at Madison Square Garden in New York City to provide cyber security cooperation to children of least developed and poor countries.
Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, is a music festival that began in France in 1982. The idea was conceived by French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, in 1981. Since then June 21st has been celebrated every year in more than a hundred countries in Europe and over the world as the World Music Day.
