Natyam Repertory to stage ‘Kothay Jole Moral Chole’ today

Natyam Repertory is going to stage ‘Kothay Jole Moral Chole’ today at 7:00 pm at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segun Bagicha in the capital.

The play originally based on Mohan Rakesh’s ‘Laharom Ke Rajahamsa’. Based on the life philosophy of Gautam Buddha,  Anshuman Bhowmick translated the play into Bangla and Irin Pervin Lopa directed the play.

The story of the theatrical drama is based on the story of Kapilavastu kingdom and Gautama Buddha. As luxury meant nothing to Buddha, he became anxious because of the frustration, sorrow, old age, etc. of human life at an early age. To prevent that, his father married him to Yashodhara. However, Gautama Buddha left home, ignoring luxury and severing every bond of the world. After 12 years of austerities, he returned to his homeland and everyone is eager to see him once.

Many started following him to take initiation. Prince Nanda was one of them who wanted to take initiation from Buddha. Although Nanda wants to be close to Buddha, his wife has no interest in it.

She did not want to lose control of his husband so she arranged a party for Nanda. Everyone from the aristocratic community of Kapilavastu was invited there. With that, there begins a conflict between worldly fascination and unearthly feeling.

The cast of the drama includes Subhasis Dutta Tanmoy, Sangeeta Chowdhury, Fakhruzzaman, Shakil Ahmed, Khurshid Alam, Shimul Saiful, Shariful Islam and others.
