Khurshid Alam to be honoured with lifetime achievement

Noted singer Khurshid Alam will be honoured for his lifetime achievement at the ‘Star plus Communication Performance Award’ today.

Singer Runa Laila and musician Gazi Mazharul Anwar will hand over the award.

“Once again I’m receiving lifetime achievement award. I’m thankful to the organiser and home that everyone will keep me and my family in their prayers”, said Khurshid Alam regarding to the award.

Two of Khurshid Alam’s songs—’Chanchal Du Nayan’ by Jebunnesa Jaman and ‘Tomar Du Hat Chhuye Shapath Nilam’ by poet Sirajul Islam—brought him to public attention.

Composed by Azad Rahman, the songs were recorded and aired on radio in 1967.

The songs became instant hits and because of the popularity, he was given the chance to perform playback in Babul Chowdhury’s film ‘Agantuk’.

On Nayak Raj Razzak’s lips, the song ‘Bandi Pakhir Moto Monta Kende More,” written by his uncle and performed by Azad Rahman, gained enormous fame.

Khurshid Alam also did playback in the popular films like ‘Pichdhala Path’ and ‘Sadharan Meye’. Besides, most of the popular songs lip sang by actor Razzak were rendered by Khurshid Alam. He sang his most of the duets with Runa Laila and Sabina Yasmin and till now, the singer sang more than four hundred songs.

He was conferred the Ekushey Padak from the Government of Bangladesh in 2018 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Channel i Music Awards in 2017 for his to Bangladeshi film music.
