Director Himu Akram’s television drama “Ice cream Wala” will be released on a private TV channel this Eid-ul-Azha. The drama’s shooting in Pubail finished recently.
The drama will bring back the memories of nostalgic ice cream sellers of the 1990s, who used to ring a bell while carrying a wooden box or drive a rickshaw van full of ice creams of various flavours and went around neighbourhoods to sell the frozen delights, say the cast and crew.
Actor Arfan Ahmed will be playing the role of Montu, the titular ice cream seller.
“After a long time, I have played a role I loved very much. The director has done everything to take the audience back to the nineties. He didn’t miss any detail including the ice cream boxes, hurricane lamps, boat ride and hazak lights [paraffin lamps],” said Arfan.
Veteran actor Salauddin Lavlu, who played a guest role in the drama, said, “Himu’s story always draws me. In this story, I’m Montu’s competitor. I marry his love interest Joba, who is three times younger than me.
“This drama is filled with entertaining scenes. The character I played was very entertaining. The story will take the audience back to the village life in the nineties.”
Director Himu added, “This is the story of the life we have left behind. I’ve only tried to take the audience back to the past, away from this mechanical life, for a while.”
The other cast members include Samia, Naresh Bhuiyan, Sampa Nizam, Ahmed Newaz, Tami Rahman, Raju and others.
