‘Binodini Rai’ gets 10m+ views

Duet song ‘Binodini Rai’ recorded by Sabbir Nasir and Sampa Biswas crossed one crore views recently. The song was released on April 11 and it raised a storm on social media including YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

‘Binodini Rai’ was sung in Dhamail style which originated from north-eastern Sylhet of north-eastern Bangladesh. The lyrics and tune of the song have been arranged by the National Award-winning artist of Bangladesh Plabon Qureshi.

Singer Sabbir Nasir shared the news on his Facebook and wrote, “Binodini Rai has crossed 10 million views on YouTube. This achievement has been possible because of the love of both the Bengals. Thanks to the audience. This is the song for them. Take love to the moon and back.”

“‘Binodini Rai’ is another example of the cultural amity between two countries. Even when I didn’t know Plabon Qureshi, I sang ‘Indubala’ to his tune and the Bangladeshi audience loved it. And this time after getting a request from Sabbir Bhai, I went to Bangladesh amidst an uncertain situation and could not have been more proud to be associated with this wonderful song,” said Sampa Biswas.

Sabbir and Sampa’s last song, ‘Harmoni Bajao’ released on May 27. Before that they released ‘Chan Raate’ just before Eid-ul-Fitr. The duo is best known for their performance in the song ‘Binodini Rai’.
