R Madhavan’s directorial debut ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ is reportedly performing well via word of mouth after a slow start at the box office and now has a rating of 9.3 on IMDb. Recently R Madhavan reacted after a fan shared videos complaining that a theatre in Kolkata stopped the ongoing screening of a show of his film, reports Hindustan Times.
During the screening of the film at a cinema hall in Kolkata, an unpleasant event occurred and the show was stopped midway. The situation escalated when a heated exchange took place between the theatre management and the audience. Taking to Twitter, a person posted brief clips in which a crowd gathered around an official complaining that they were waiting for 25-45 minutes but no announcement was made about the delay. In the clip, the people were also asking for a refund. The video was posted with the caption, “Why did Inox stop the show on your own during the #RocketryTheFilm movie? @ActorMadhavan.”
R Madhavan later took to Twitter to urge fans to maintain peace. Resharing the post, R Madhavan tweeted, “There must have been a genuine reason and cause. Please do be calm and show some love people. Humble request. The show will be in soon. All the love (rocket, folded hands and red heart emojis).”
Despite of all the Hindi version of the film had opened to 0.94 crores, and on the 11th day as 1.1 crores came in. That’s pretty impressive as the film has not just gone past the 1 crore mark.
‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’, a biopic, is the directorial debut of Madhavan. In the film, he essayed the role of former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayan. The film is based on the life of the scientist who was falsely charged with espionage in 1994. It released in theatres on July 1. The film was appreciated by several celebs as well as fans and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 19.
