Bangla band Meghdol is all set to collaborate with director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon for his debut film ‘Hawa’.
The band is going to release a song with the same title ‘Hawa’ before the release of the film.
Mejbaur, the director of the much-anticipated film ‘Hawa’, is also a talented lyricist and the vocalist of Meghdol. He said they are yet to finalise the date of the song’s official release.
The music video of the song will show a miniature version of the boat which was used in the film. “I think this kind of shooting didn’t take place in our country. For the music video of the song, we made a miniature version of the boat and shoot the video inside the studio. But Meghdol will be seen on the real boat used in the movie ‘Hawa’,” said Mejbaur.
Meghdol’s song ‘Hawa’ will not be in the film but the makers are planning to use it for the promotion of the film.
“The film ‘Hawa’ and Meghdol’s song ‘Hawa’ are interconnected. Both of them belong to the same timeframe. When I was planning to make the film, Meghdol began working on the song. As our film is based on a modern fairy tale and all the factors are based on folk tales of the sea and Meghdol’s music genre is completely different from that. Meghdol doesn’t usually make this kind of folk-based song. So, we decided to use the song in promotion of the film but not in the film,” said Sumon.
‘Hawa’ will hit theatres on July 29 and its first song ‘Shada Shada Kala Kala’ already triggered a stir among the audience.
The song, written and composed by Hashim Mahmud, remained confined within the premises of the Faculty of Fine Art at Dhaka University for long but now it reached far nooks of the country after it is used in the film, said Mejbaur.
Mejbaur had the plan to use the song on Hashim Mahmud’s voice but could not do so as he is not in a form to sing. So he chose Arfan Mredha Shiblu for singing it on Emon Chowdhury’s music arrangement.
The story of ‘Hawa’ is the modern representation of the mythology related to sea. The story of the film revolves around the journey of eight fishermen and a woman in the deep sea who struggle during their 10-15 days of a long journey on a trawler, risking their lives from giant waves or storms. It also has hints of containing mythical underwater creatures in it.
