Batighar to stage ‘Radcliffe Line’ today

Theatre troupe Batighar is going to stage the 28th show of ‘Radcliffe Line’ today at the Experimental Theatre hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital at 7:15pm.

The play is the 8th production of Batighar which portrays how a political border separate people and strip them of humanity. The play has been written and directed by Muktonil.

‘Radcliffe Line’ revolves around a fictional interaction between two Border Security Force of India and Bangladesh soldiers. The play begins as Jamal of the BGB and Hiralal of the BSF chase the cow which was grazing on No Man’s Land.

While chasing Hiralal discovers a tunnel under the border fence from opposing sides of the Radcliffe Line. Inside the tunnel Jamal and Hiralal face each other and they start to fight instantly.

After a long fight, the tired soldiers start a conversation and they realize how similar their lives are. After the conversation both realize that they have been dehumanized by an imaginary line which has stripped them of their humanity.

Though the play does not end with the two soldiers becoming friends but they are killed by long range shots fired by an unknown gunman.

The play will cast Kalid Hasan Rumi. Shoron Biswas, Shishir Sarkar, and Firoz Khan.

The ticket for the show will cost Tk 100, Tk 200 and Tk 300 depending on the sitting arrangements.
