Director Kajal Arefin passes away

Film director Kajal Arefin passed away on Tuesday evening. He died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital.

Famous actor Tariq Anam Khan confirmed the news of Kajal Arefin’s death and said, “Kajal Arefin was a highly talented director. I am grieving after hearing the news. May his soul rest in peace.”

Kajal Arefin was not in the direction for a long time and was staying in the United States. However, in March he returned to the country with his wife.

Kajal Arefin was born on April 18, 1948 in Jamalpur. In the eighties, his film ‘Surooj Mia’ became a hit across the country. Tariq Anam Khan played the lead role in the film while Rozina appeared opposite him. Apart from them the film also features Gholam Mustafa and Subarna Mustafa.

Kajal Arefin has worked as an assistant director in several movies. Among them are famous films like ‘Surya Dighal Bari’, ‘Golapi Ekhon Train-e’ and ‘Bhat De’.
