Popular Bangladeshi children’s programme Sisimpur won the prize for the Best Mixed Media Series at the global prestigious Kidscreen Award.
Sisimpur received the award for an episode from its 13th season which focused on how helping others can be a rewarding experience.
Sisimpur was nominated with two other internationally popular programmes, ‘Alien TV’ (Entertainment One, POP Family Entertainment, Netflix, Nine Network) and ‘Club Mundo Kids’ (Exile Content Studio).
Expressing his excitement for Sisimpur’s achievement, the managing director of Sesame Workshop Bangladesh Mohammad Shah Alam said, “This is undoubtedly a great achievement for the Bangladesh media industry and for everyone involved with the programme. The Kidscreen Award is a prestigious award for the children’s programmes worldwide.
I believe this is a matter of great pride for the Sisimpur team and Bangladesh as whole for winning such an award at a global platform, which will inspire us further to continue doing the important work that we focus on.
Our 17 years of endeavour to help children grow smarter, stronger, and kinder through creating and distributing contents essential for the development and education of young children of our country”.
Announced on July 19, 2022 evening, over 500 entries were submitted in this year’s Kidscreen award where the big names like Netflix, Cartoon Network, BBC, Warner Bros. Animation, Fox Media, Nickelodeon Animation Studio, Universal Television, PBS Kids, DreamWorks Animation; participated.
This is mentionable that Sisimpur was also previously awarded as the best child friendly programme through a survey conducted by BBC World Service Trust in 2010 and was nominated as the third best popular programme in overall categories.
Since the inception of Sisimpur, The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has been supporting the programme through financial assistance and technical guidance. Currently Sesame Workshop Bangladesh is implementing the three-year $4.1 million USAID’s Promoting Education for Early Learners project that aims to ensure quality education, diversity, equity and inclusion for children.
The US Ambassador to Bangladesh and the USAID Mission Director congratulated the Sisimpur team on this remarkable achievement.
Sesame Workshop Bangladesh (SWB), the branch office of Sesame Workshop is the proud producer of Sisimpur - the local version of world-famous children’s television programme ‘Sesame Street’ in Bangladesh.
The TV show has been airing since 2005 with a view to making early childhood education delightful and enjoyable for Bangladeshi children.
