Afsana Mimi, Ferdous cast for govt-grant film

Evergreen actors Ferdous Ahmed and Afsana Mimi took part in the shooting of Nur-E-Alam’s government-granted film titled ‘Russell-er Jonno Opekkha’. Based on Selina Hossain’s novel of the same name, the shooting of the film took place on July 22 at the residence of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, at Dhanmondi-32.

In this film, Ferdous will be seen playing the role of a colonel who was a full-time companion of Russell while Afsana Mimi will be seen playing the role of Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib.

Selina Hossain’s novel ‘Russell-er Jonno Opekkha’ is about Bangabandhu’s youngest son Sheikh Russell. Sheikh Russell was a student of class four at the University Laboratory School in the capital. Once he became friends with Dulal, a nut seller, but one day Russell goes missing. This story is about Dulal’s selfless friendship with Russell, a friend waiting for another friend.

Afsana Mimi said about acting in it, “Before acting, I read the script well. But this time I got interested to work in this movie after seeing the character. And it’s a children’s film that is being made and I think it’s a responsibility as an artist to work on a government-funded film. I took it as a challenge to work in the role of Bangamata.”

“This is the first time I am working with Afsana Mimi and the film will always remain a part of our history. On top of that, both of our shootings took place at Sheikh Mujib’s home at Dhanmondi 32, the home which contains many stories and is also a part of history. I never thought I would get a chance to shoot there. Though the screen time of that house is very short but yet I have a different kind of emotion with that part. When I went to shoot, I was shivering again and again. I think working on this film will be one of the best experiences of my artistic life,” said Ferdous.

“I thank our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for always supporting Bangladeshi films. Now it’s our job to give good films to the audience,” he added.
