Ananya Emon filed Tk15cr for abusing parrot in drama

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change’s Wildlife Crime Control Unit fined TK 150 million to director Ananya Emon for a scene from the drama titled ‘Shesh Golpota Tumie’.

A 50-second scene of the drama shows a caged parrot. “Caging, selling, exhibiting or aiding and abetting the commission of any such crime is a punishable offense under the Wildlife (Protection and Security) Act, 2012,” stated in the case file.

“The drama, released on YouTube channel ‘CD Choice Drama’, shows a caged wild animal which falls under criminal act under the law as it encourages others to commit such crime.

The scene was first noticed by the Wildlife Crime Control Unit on April 5 via a Facebook clip.

The Wildlife Crime Unit charged Ananya Emon with violating Sections 38(2), 41, and 46 of the Wildlife Act, 2012. The amount of compensation has been fixed at TK 150 million.

Ananya Emon was asked to appear in front of the court on June 26 but he did not appear that day due to his busy shooting schedule. Later when he went to the court on July 21 the court gave him the next date which is on August 1.

The drama ‘Shesh Golpota Tumie’ is written by Sukanya Dutt and directed by Ananya Emon. The drama stars Tawsif Mahbub and Tasnia Farin in lead. The drama aired on satellite channel Banglavision on Valentine’s Day this year and is now available on YouTube.
