Prachyanat to stage ‘Bon Manush’ after 4yrs

After four years, theatre troupe Prachyanat is going to stage its much-acclaimed production ‘Bon Manush’ (The Hairy Ape) tomorrow at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segun Bagicha in the capital.

Directed by Baqar Bakul, the play is based on American playwright Eugene O’ Neill’s ‘The Hairy Ape’.

The play displays O’ Neill’s social concerns for the oppressed industrial working class.

The Nobel Laureate playwright’s drama features how unjustly the working class is treated through the tragedy of a brutish person named Yank.

The story shows a group of labours fill up the ship’s engine with coal in the boiler room.

Rifat Ahmed Nobel is in the sound direction, while the play is choreographed by Parvin Sultana Koli. ABS Jem designs the set and light.
