The Sandman gets two bonus episodes

Makers of ‘The Sandman’ just revealed that a special bonus episode is now available for you to stream. The two-part episode will cover a separate arc from the Sandman comic book series, reports Collider.

Divided into two-parts, the bonus episode will tell two short stories: ‘A Dream of a Thousand Cats’ and ‘Calliope.’

The bonus episode has the first part in animated format, while the second half is done in live-action.

‘A Dream of a Thousand Cats’, has some very big names attached playing various cats and characters in The Sandman bonus episode. David Tennant and his wife, Georgia Tennant, play Don and Laura Lynn. Grey’s Anatomy’s Sandra Oh has been tapped to play the Prophet, while The Sandman creator Gaiman is in it as Crow and Skull Bird and former Professor X actor James McAvoy voices Golden-Haired Man. Tennant isn’t the only Doctor Who veteran to enter The Sandman universe, either, as Arthur Darvill, who played the companion Rory, portrays Richard Mardoc in ‘Calliope.’

While it was accidentally leaked to be coming, it’s still huge to get another episode of ‘The Sandman’ following its massive success. The animated format is a neat touch, as it’s not often that DC TV properties shift from live-action to animation briefly. Given the hugely positive response to the series, it’s only a matter of time before The Sandman season 2 gets properly greenlit and announced by Netflix. Due to how large and significant Gaiman’s work is, the streamer could potentially have The Sandman run for several seasons as they adapt more of the creator’s work into live-action.
