Chanchal Chowdhury is most definitely on top of his game right now and taking himself to greater heights with the release of every new movie and series. But barring him, there is one more Bangladeshi actor who has been in an equally red-hot form for the last couple of years, even though he has remained in the shadows on most occasions.
We are talking about Intekhab Dinar, the actor who once became a household name for essaying a much-loved role in the mega serial ‘Bondhon’ in the turn of the century. Besides that, he appeared in many memorable characters, and provided the audiences with top-class entertainment.
Not to mention, Dinar also has a great background in theatrics to back his expertise, as he joined Nagorik Natya Somproday in 1995 and became involved seriously in acting since then.
But hardly ever could he attain the status of a big-match player in the Bangladeshi mainstream media. And as a result of our local TV dramas becoming a shadow of its previous self, his appearances on tele also became sporadic at one point.
Fast forward to the far end of 2019, Dinar made a remarkable resurgence in his career with the portrayal of a notorious chairman’s role in the critically acclaimed web-series ‘Taqdeer’ on Hoichoi. And he did not stop just there. Like a fine wine, he has been aging and getting even better with every new project since then.
In 2021, Dinar made his mark in ‘Dwikhondito’ of Chorki’s anthology ‘Unoloukik’, followed by original film ‘Khachar Bhitor Ochin Pakhi’ and ‘Lights, Camera... Objection’ of the omnibus ‘Jaago Bahey’ on the same OTT platform. He also featured in the web-series ‘Bilaap’ on Cinematic that year.
Even in the first half of 2022, he kept enthralling the audiences with back to back releases in the form of ‘Nikhoj’ on Chorki and ‘Sabrina’ and ‘Dour’ on Hoichoi.
Most recently, he was seen in one of the lead roles of the now ‘talk of the town’ web-series ‘Karagar Part 1’ alongside Chanchal Chowdhury. To many, he was the highlight of the show, and even pushed Chanchal to his limit in the process.
Nowadays it is a rare sight to behold when someone else is garnering the major part of the appreciation for their performance for a production that also includes Chanchal. While there is still a chance of Chanchal outperforming Dinar in the second part of ‘Karagar’, the veteran actor hardly has anything to be worried of, as he too has yet another project of his own coming out soon to win the audience’s heart.
OTT platform Bioscope has recently dropped the teaser of its new original web-series ‘Makal - A tale of a Conman’, helmed by Animesh Aich.
The ensemble cast of the series includes Orchita Sporshia, Hasan Masood, Rawnak Hasan and others, but it is beyond doubt, Dinar in the lead is all set to steal the spotlight.
The teaser of ‘Makal’ promises to bring Dinar in a never-seen-before avatar, and it looks like the makers too have acknowledged the genius of this actor, and they are more than eager to cash in on the rediscovered brilliance of Dinar.
Or perhaps, Dinar is already the money, and in this era of ever-increasing inflation, we cannot help taking refuge in him!
