The cultural affairs ministry organised a discussion and cultural event at the capital’s Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi on Saturday evening to commemorate the 46th death anniversary of Bangladesh’s National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Secretary to the ministry Md Abul Mansur attended the event as the chief guest while Nazrul Institute trustee board Chairman and Nazrul Sangeet artist Khairul Anam Shakil were present as special guests. Nazrul Institute trustee board member Professor Begum Akter Kamal and Anam Shakil spoke at the event.
Deputy secretary of the institute Md Raihan Kawsar delivered the welcome address. Muhammad Zakir Hassan, the executive director of the institute, presided over the event.
Music was performed by famous Nazrul Sangeet artists Yakub Ali Khan, Ferdous Ara, Kalpana Anam, Shahid Kabir Palash and Shahidul Islam Khan. Popular classical dancer Warda Rehab and her troupe performed during the dance segment. Renowned recitalists Bhaswar Bandopadhyay and Kazi Mahtab Suman recited some of Nazrul’s notable poems. Poet Rezauddin Stalin was the presenter of the program.
