Young Bangladeshi filmmaker Juboraj Shamim’s feature film ‘Adim’ won the prestigious NETPAC jury Award at the 44th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) on Friday.
Confirming the news, Shamim told The Business Post, “The festival circuit journey is still feeling like a dream to me. It feels like I’m still caught in the middle of it.”
“I’d like to dedicate this win to my father Shahjahan Bhuiyan,” he added.
The NETPAC Award is awarded to the best Asian feature film by a jury from the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema.
‘Adim’ premiered at MIFF on August 30. The film has participated in the main competition category of the MIFF, which is the second oldest film festival in the world.
Shamim and Adim’s executive producer Mohammad Nuruzzaman had attended the screening of the film, a joint production of Bangladesh and Netherlands, in Moscow on August 30.
The crowd-funded film portrays the struggles of slum dwellers. The film stars people living in a slum in Dhaka city.
The film will be taking the audience on a hyper-realistic journey in the slum blurring the line between fiction and reality.
Under the banner of Juboraj’s production house, Roshayon, Amir Hamza was the cinematographer and Sujon Mahmud headed the sound and colour units.
