Gazi Mazharul Anwar to remain in people’s ‘Ganer-e Khatay’

Legendary musician Gazi Mazharul Anwar, lyricist of the immensely popular song ‘Ganer-e Khatay Swarolipi Likhe’ passed away on September 4. Composed by Subal Das, the superhit track was sung by Runa Laila and Mahmudunnobi for the film ‘Swarolipi,’ directed by Nazrul Islam. In his legendary career as a lyricist, he wrote over 20,000 songs. He wrote songs for Shahnaz Rahmatullah, Syed Abdul Hadi, Sabina Yasmin, Runa Laila, Andrew Kishore, Kanak Chapa, Subir Nandi and Khurshid Alam, Khalid Hasan Milu, Baby Nazneen, Monir Khan and many more. He composed numerous songs for various media including radio, television, and cinema in a career spanning almost 60 years. As a film director, he has directed 20 films including ‘Shasti’,  ‘Bichar Poti’, ‘Artonad’, ‘Jiboner Golpo’ and more. He also produced 23 films.
