Renowned Bangladeshi filmmaker Nuhash Humayun will become the first director with a Bangladeshi project which will be released on the popular US-based OTT platform, Hulu, jointly owned by The Walt Disney Company and Comcast’s NBCUniversal. The director confirmed the news to several media outlets yesterday.
The name and details about the project will be announced soon by Hulu. The project will be made in both Bangla and English.
Nuhash had also signed a deal with two Hollywood talent agencies, Anonymous Content and Creative Artists Agency (CAA) this year. He got signed with the project for Hulu through these agencies.
Along with the direction, the screenplay of the untitled project was also written by Nuhash. Though the plot of the content is still under wrap, the shooting for the project took place in Bangladesh, with Bangladeshi cast members.
However, the final cut has already been sent to Hulu for clearance and the director is now waiting for the official announcement.
Nuhash’s recent horror short film, ‘Moshari’ won the Jury Prize for Best Narrative Short at the Atlanta Film Festival, an Oscar-qualifying film festival. His latest horror anthology ‘Pett Kata Shaw’ on Bangladeshi OTT platform Chorki also received rave reviews.
However, back in 2019, Nuhash received a lot of criticism online from Chittagong Hill Tracts’ (CHT) indigenous residents for writing and directing a controversial cellphone advertisement called “Running Rafi.”
