Jaya’s ‘Beauty Circus’ trailer receives mixed reviews

The mediocre trailer for Jaya Ahsan starrer, ‘Beauty Circus’ was released on the YouTube channel of Channel i on Saturday, which received mixed reviews from the Bangladeshi audience. At the time of writing this report, the trailer has only been viewed 12 thousand times on YouTube, which is very low compared to the hype ‘Poran,’ ‘Hawa,’ or ‘Operation Sundarban’ created within the first 24 hours of their first promo release.

The two-minute-long trailer of ‘Beauty Circus’ was poorly edited and could not excite the viewers. It tried to encapsulate a multitude of emotions, ranging from fear to excitement. Netizens on social media have been mocking the poor visual effects work seen in the trailer. Jaya Ahsan can also be seen in multiple scenes, showcasing a wide range of stunts she did for the film.

Some fans have praised the trailer whereas others have been critical about the production quality of the film. A fan, with the Facebook profile named ‘Munna,’ commented on the trailer at the popular Bangladeshi film enthusiast group ‘Bangla Cholochitro’. “Is this a film? Looks like TV drama to me.”

Another netizen called Kaji Ananna wrote in another Bangladeshi film enthusiast group called ‘Movie Freaks Bangladesh,’ “The birds and butterflies used in the film’s VFX look cartoonish. Very unexpected.” 

Md Mosheur Rahman wrote, “The storyline seems interesting but the VFX and circus sets look very cheap. This might’ve been done better if they had a better budget. Sadly, our industry is really small.”

The film which revolves around the circus was also highlighted throughout the trailer and is reminiscent of the kind of circuses one would see in films from the early 80s.

Directed by Mahmud Didar, the film will highlight the struggles of women in the circus. The star-studded cast of the film includes Ferdous, Tauquir Ahmed, Shatabdi Wadud, ABM Sumon and Mamunur Rashid. ‘Beauty Circus’ is slated for release theatrical release on September 23. Moreover, this is the last film of popular Bangladeshi actor Humayun Kabir Sadhu, who passed away back in 2019.
