‘The Crown’ in Netflix’s top 10 after Queen’s death

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the first season of ‘The Crown’ made into the Top 10 this week on Netflix.

According to the Netflix, the series has been viewed by for 17.6 million hours between September 5 and 11 which put it in the No. 7 spot for English-language TV series, reports Variety.

Queen Elizabeth who reigned for 70 years, died at the age of 96 on Sept 8.

The Season 1 of the ‘The Crown’ was released in 2016.

The first two seasons of the series starred British actress Claire Foy as the young Queen, with actor Matt Smith playing the Queen’s husband Prince Philip.

Howeve, Netflix Inc’s (NFLX.O) Emmy-winning drama ‘The Crown’ paused filming of its sixth and final season following the death of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth.

The streaming service said production was suspended ‘as a mark or respect’ for the monarch, who died Thursday at age 96 after 70 years on the throne. Filming also will be stopped on the day of the queen’s funeral, Netflix said.

Olivia Colman took on the role in the third and fourth seasons, and Imelda Staunton will play Elizabeth in the fifth installment, which is set to debut on Netflix in November. The coming season is expected to cover events in the early and mid-1990s including the divorce of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
